Dominican Republic participates in regional conference on the fight against corruption in Costa Rica

Rijo Presbot, along with the Dominican delegation, will share the country's experience in strengthening public finances, budget transparency, and modernizing fiscal management.

San José, Costa Rica. – The CEO of BudgetJosé Rijo Presbot will participate in the Conference "Renewal of the roadmap of the Regional Platform to Accelerate the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Central America", which is held from July 21 to 23 in San José, Costa Rica.

The conference brings together representatives from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, with the purpose of updating the regional roadmap to strengthen the implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption. (UNCAC), through the exchange of experiences, the identification of priorities and the definition of joint actions for the period 2026-2028.

Rijo Presbot is part of the Dominican delegation along with the Director General of Public Procurement, Carlos Pimentel, and the Executive Director of the General Directorate for the Recovery of Assets. (DGRB)Fernando Henríquez, who will participate in the spaces for dialogue and exchange of good practices on transparency, integrity and institutional strengthening.

During the meeting, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)The Ministry of Justice and Peace and the Public Ethics Prosecutor's Office of Costa Rica, with the support of the Government of Canada, the head of the General Budget Directorate will share the Dominican Republic's experience in strengthening public finances, budget transparency, and modernizing fiscal management.

The work agenda includes technical roundtables and plenary sessions to address topics such as corruption prevention and public integrity; oversight, detection, and open public management; public procurement and financial management; as well as the investigation and prosecution of corruption offenses and asset recovery. Digitalization, new technologies, the fight against organized crime, gender equality, and human rights are also incorporated as cross-cutting themes.

The participation of the Dominican delegation reaffirms the country's commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and regional cooperation to consolidate more ethical, efficient, and sustainable development-oriented public institutions.
