DIGEPRES begins the formulation stage of the 2027 General State Budget Bill, focusing on digital resources and those with a lower environmental impact.

The General Directorate of Budget (DIGEPRES) inició de manera oficial los trabajos de formulación del proyecto de Ley del Presupuesto General del Estado 2027, destacando como cada año la planificación como instrumento central para cumplir con la entrega oportuna, de calidad y cada vez más a tiempo en el Congreso Nacional, como contempla la Ley Orgánica de Presupuesto del sector público Núm. 423-06.

The formulation stage, as part of the budget cycle, involves the preparation and consolidation of budget proposals or draft budgets for public institutions for the following year; this requires order, foresight, and efficient management of public resources. It demonstrates responsibility and respect for the citizenry.

Each year for DIGEPRES this period marks the official route of tasks that accompany the logistical process that culminates with the delivery of the document to the National Congress no later than October 1st, and due to the commitment of this administration it arrives more and more on time, exceeding the legal punctuality evidenced with the proposals delivered consecutively since 2020.

The formulation stage includes deadlines, anticipating review times, constant monitoring of the process and progress, reviewing figures, texts, formats, coordination with the areas linked to the process, safeguarding digital and physical copies and carrying out partial and final tests before the final printing, among others.

For DIGEPRES, the timely and organized process that the institution carries out each year during the formulation of the draft General State Budget Law represents the constant pursuit of this administration to advance in an orderly and timely manner the delivery of the national document in a transparent way, aligned with the needs and priorities of the country.

An increasingly sustainable budget

Since 2020, when José Rijo Presbot took over as Director General of the Budget, the institution has made a concerted effort to align its environmental sustainability rhetoric with practical implementation at every stage of the budget cycle. This is why, unlike in previous years, the need for printing has been significantly reduced to a minimum, along with the use of paper and ink, and a more environmentally friendly approach with less environmental impact has been adopted through the use of digital resources.

QR codes, digital memories, and downloadable documents are used to streamline and improve the uploading process, thereby enabling effective and timely dissemination to the public.

PGE 2027: A Vision for the Future

Each year, the government develops a plan to define the resources it will need to provide the services and carry out the projects that the people require. This plan is reviewed by the relevant committee, debated, and finally approved by the National Congress, becoming the General State Budget Law before the end of the year.

Through this, the government seeks to define the resources it will need in order to provide citizens with the services they require. These services encompass education, health, social assistance, youth programs, sports, public safety, and other initiatives that benefit the population.

DIGEPRES is developing an educational and informative communications campaign aimed not only at the technical public, but also at the general public, as a way to involve citizens in budgetary processes and exercise their right to know.

For the 2027 General State Budget Bill, the motto focuses on "Vision for the future," as a way of demonstrating responsibility for the impact of every penny allocated to each initiative included in the document and the expected results from the execution of each work, good, and service.
