La mejor manera de recordar el natalicio del patricio Juan Pablo Duarte es actuando con transparencia

The Director General of the Budget, economist José Rijo Presbot, stated today that the best way to commemorate the birth of the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte is by acting with transparency, as demonstrated in his historic accountability report upon his return from his trip to Sabana Buey, Baní, where General Pedro Santana was camped.

The government official understands that much has been written on the subject, that it's about combining transparency in the use of available resources with the need for efficiency and quality in spending in today's pandemic and crisis, and he described the aforementioned action as a gesture of patriotism. Now more than ever, we need to understand reality in order to overcome it.

He recalled the famous phrase of the father of the nation: "Be just first, if you want to be happy," to indicate that in that phrase he is also linked to the need to create unity through a national agreement as the president of the republic, Luis Abinader, has been proposing in different scenarios.

Rijo Presbot agrees with the scholars who point out that the patriot Juan Pablo Duarte defined the Dominican Government as responsible in its actions, thereby assuming one of the main characteristics of a good government, which is moderation in spending, and with this perspective it was sought to guarantee the clean use of the State's resources and achieve greater public social investment for the benefit of the vast majority of the Dominican people.

The professor and former legislator asserted that the best way to pay tribute to the patriot is by investing correctly in the construction of the nation, supported by the transparency of public administration, which is why it is essential to continue promoting this practice.

“All knowledge, time, human and technological resources must be employed so that public institutions efficiently fulfill their legal and constitutional obligations for the benefit of the Dominican nation; this is the best way to permanently honor Duarte,” concluded Mr. Rijo Presbot.
