Digepres holds Citizen Meeting with Association of Immersion English Teachers

The Citizen Meeting served to publicize basic aspects of the stages of the budget cycle as a tool that promotes transparency, participation and social control

The General Directorate of Budget (Digepres) He held a Citizen Meeting aimed at the Association of Immersion English Teachers (APII) to share with the group basic aspects related to the cycle and stages under which the General State Budget is formulated.

The opening remarks were delivered by Mr. Iván Ramírez, Deputy Director General of Budget, who thanked those present for their attendance and interest, while explaining the institutional work and how the governing body regulates, directs and manages the Dominican Budgetary System in a transparent manner.

Ramírez also highlighted the importance of citizenship in public administration, considering it both a duty and a right. “With this meeting we aim to enable organized social groups to understand the budget cycle and thereby improve their influence, participation and capacity to propose solutions in the public budget.”the deputy director indicated.

For his part, Víctor Frías, president of the Association of Immersion English Teachers, thanked them for the invitation and spoke in general terms about the educational group, explaining its origins, objectives, structure, achievements and actions to be developed in the future.

Basic aspects for understanding the budget cycle

With the purpose of sharing the stages of the budget cycle with the Association of Immersion English Teachers, the presentation was held on Public budget as an instrument of public policy, led by Dayana Crespo, specialist in quality and evaluation of budget management; María Victoria Ortiz, head of the Standards and Methodologies department and Ana Miguelina Terrero, head of the Budget Performance Evaluation department.

The presentation addressed the process carried out by the Government to organize in different stages the planning, execution and control of public resources in a given period and the laws for the approval, execution and evaluation of the Budget each year.

The event was also attended by technicians from different areas of DigepresThe meeting was held in the Juan Bosch Hall of the Budget Department, attended by teachers from the association and modern language students.

Citizen MeetingThis is an initiative of Digepres, to reaffirm the commitment to transparency and to guarantee, for the first time since the Government, social participation in the formulation of the General State Budget.
