\"\"Antigua, Guatemala \u2013 The first Regional Workshop on "Gender-Responsive Budgeting" is being held in Antigua, Guatemala, organized by the Regional Center for Technical Assistance in Central America, Panama and the Dominican Republic (CAPTAC-DR) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).<\/p>\n

The initiative, which seeks to strengthen the integration of a gender perspective in public finance, included the participation of Jos\u00e9 Rijo Presbot, director of the General Directorate of Budget<\/a> representing the Dominican Republic. "Our presence here reaffirms our commitment to this cause, allowing us to visualize the reality of the region in terms of gender-focused budgets, promoting equality and ensuring that everyone has the right to live with dignity," <\/em>Rijo Presbot said in his speech.<\/em><\/p>\n

The workshop, which will take place from August 5 to 8, 2024, had the participation of officials from budget administrations of the seven member countries of CAPTAC-DR, and experts in the field of gender-responsive budgeting on its opening day.<\/p>\n

This meeting aims to transcend theoretical knowledge by providing a space for interaction, collaborative learning, and the active promotion of gender equality in the region's public policies through conferences, presentations of regional experiences, and practical activities. Furthermore, it seeks to generate a tangible impact on reducing gender inequality and inequity. This workshop marks a significant step toward building more inclusive and equitable budgeting systems in the region.<\/p>\n

CAPTAC-DR\"\"<\/strong><\/p>\n

The International Monetary Fund's Regional Technical Assistance Center (IMF)<\/a> The Central American Partnership for Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic (CAPTAC-DR) is a collaborative effort between Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. External partners include the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, Colombia, Spain, Luxembourg, Mexico, Norway, the European Union, Canada, and the IMF.<\/p>\n

The CAPTAC-DR was inaugurated in May 2009 in Guatemala City and is one of the regional centers established by the IMF around the world to provide technical assistance and training. The Center's main objective is to assist in strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of its member countries. The Center also seeks to support its members' efforts toward greater regional economic integration.<\/p>\n

Currently, CAPTAC-DR covers seven areas of work: tax administration, customs administration, public financial management, financial regulation and supervision, monetary and exchange operations, real sector statistics, and public finance statistics.\t\t<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

El taller que se desarrollar\u00e1 del 5 al 8 de agosto de 2024, en su jornada inaugural cont\u00f3 con la presencia de funcionarios de administraciones presupuestarias de los siete pa\u00edses miembros del CAPTAC-DR, y expertos en el campo de la presupuestaci\u00f3n con enfoque de g\u00e9nero. Este encuentro entre sus prop\u00f3sitos busca trascender el conocimiento te\u00f3rico al proporcionar un espacio para la interacci\u00f3n, aprendizaje colaborativo y promoci\u00f3n activa de la igualdad de g\u00e9nero en las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas de la regi\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de conferencias, presentaciones de experiencias regionales y actividades pr\u00e1cticas, y, adem\u00e1s, generar un impacto tangible en la reducci\u00f3n de brechas de inequidad y desigualdad de g\u00e9nero. La realizaci\u00f3n de este taller marca un paso significativo hacia la construcci\u00f3n de sistemas presupuestarios m\u00e1s inclusivos y equitativos en la regi\u00f3n. El objetivo principal del Centro es asistir en el fortalecimiento de las capacidades t\u00e9cnicas e institucionales de sus pa\u00edses miembros.
